The California Channel, the state’s public affairs cable television station, will provide a live broadcast of the public hearing to be held by the Commission on Judicial Appointments on the governor’s nomination of Third District Court of Appeal Justice Tani Cantil-Sakauye as Chief Justice of California, the commission’s chair, Chief Justice Ronald M. George, said yesterday.

The hearing will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 25 in the California Supreme Court Courtroom, located on the Fourth Floor of the Earl Warren Building at 350 McAllister Street in San Francisco.

“This statewide broadcast of a confirmation hearing—the first of its kind—will broaden access for members of the public, legal community, and press,” George said in a statement.

The broadcast is scheduled to be available live on cable stations carrying the California Channel and on the California Channel website, www.calchannel.com, where it will also be archived.

Overflow viewing for the hearing will be provided in the auditorium of the Milton Marks Conference Center in the lower level of the Hiram W. Johnson State Office Building, located at 455 Golden Gate Avenue in San Francisco.
