Los Angeles attorney Jennifer Saunders of Haight Brown & Bonesteel has been selected to receive the Harriett Buhai Center for Family Law’s Hall of Fame Award.

Founded in 1982, the center bills itself as one of the largest providers of family law and domestic violence assistance to low-income persons in Los Angeles. It is named for lawyer and activist Harriett Buhai, who died in 1983 after a lengthy career advocating on behalf of the poor.

Saunders is slated to receive the award, which recognizes individuals for their dedication to serving the center and its clients, at a benefit June 3, according to a release from her firm.

The attorney is a partner in the firm’s Professional Liability Practice Group and focuses her practice on the defense of professional liability claims, malicious prosecution actions and attorney fee disputes, the firm said.

She also volunteers one day a month at the center, assisting with individual clients who need assistance, providing legal advice, preparing paperwork and preparing them for their court appearances.

A graduate of Southwestern Law School, Saunders was admitted to practice in 1985.
