By a MetNews Staff Writer

Best Best & Krieger LLP yesterday announced the addition of former Akerman Senterfitt attorney Robert M. Shaw to its Los Angeles office.

He is one of four new associates to join BB&K’s municipal and redevelopment law practice statewide, a spokesperson for the firm said.

Dean Derleth, the BB&K partner who oversees the municipal and redevelopment law practice group and serves as city attorney to Corona and Colton, said “[w]e welcome the new attorneys to a growing and thriving practice here at BB&K.”

Shaw’s practice has focused on construction litigation, arbitration and mediation for public and private clients, subcontractors, contractors and design professionals.

Before joining Akerman Senterfitt, Shaw worked as the assistant to the director of public works at the city of Long Beach, where he researched environmental impacts and land-use restrictions for proposed projects, according to the BB&K release.

Shaw graduated from the Syracuse University law school in May 2004 and received a master’s degree in public administration from the university at the same time. He completed his undergraduate education at Allegheny College in Pennsylvania and was licensed to practice in California in 2006.

Two of the other new attorneys, Hannah Schartiger and Rebecca Andrews, joined the firm’s San Diego office while Curtis R. Wright will be based out of BB&K’s Ontario office.
