Cooley Clings to Lead in Tight Vote for Attorney General

 

Los Angeles District Attorney Steve Cooley (R) continued to lead San Francisco District Attorney Kamala Harris (D) Wednesday as more vote-by-mail and provisional ballots were counted in the close contest for California attorney general.

As of 4:10 p.m., Secretary of State Debra Bowen reported, Cooley had 3,940,205 votes, or 45.9 percent, to Harris’ 3,928,805, or 45.8 percent, giving Cooley a lead of 11,400 votes.

Election officials in each of the 58 counties must complete their tallies by Nov. 30.
