Los Angeles business law firm TroyGould PC yesterday announced that Gerard N. Casale Jr. has joined the firm’s Corporate Department.

Casale came to TroyGould from Dreier Stein Kahan Browne Woods George  LLP, where he served as a leader of the firm’s Transactional-Corporate Securities Group.

Sanford Hillsberg, managing partner of TroyGould said that the acquisition of Casale was “part of the firm’s ongoing strategy to further enhance our corporate offerings to our existing client base.”

He praised Casale as “an outstanding lawyer” and touted the attorney’s “solid track record of 17 years of experience” in the mergers and acquisitions and capital markets.

Before joining Dreier Stein in 2007, Casale founded the 12-person West Los Angeles law firm of Casale Alliance LLP, where his practice focused on general corporate matters, mergers and acquisitions, securities, investigations and crisis management.

Among his notable cases, Casale has been involved with toymaker Applause LLC’s bankruptcy case and the fraud investigations of Houston-based Stanford Financial and Georgia-based CRE Capital, TroyGould said.

In 2000, Casale founded X-Laboratories, a Malibu-based technology development and commercialization company in partnership with Hughes, GM, Raytheon and Boeing.

He developed and structured the transaction which became the X-Laboratories’ spin-off business, then found its start-up capital and ran the business as its CEO and Chairman until X-Labs was sold in 2003.

The attorney has also taught venture finance law as an adjunct professor at his alma mater, the Pepperdine University School of Law and authored Venture Law Finance, published by Pepperdine Law Press.

Casale received a degree in economics from Fairfield University, in Fairfield, Conn., and his law degree from Pepperdine University, where he was a member of the Moot Court Board. He was admitted to the State Bar of California in 1992.

TroyGould is a 32-member firm established in 1970 with practice areas including business transactions, litigation, and legal counseling, with emphasis in the areas of corporate finance, mergers and acquisitions, financial services, real estate, entertainment, employment, tax, and competitive business practices.
