Downtown Streets to Close For May Day Marches

A number of streets in downtown Los Angeles near the Stanley Mosk Courthouse will be closed tomorrow to accommodate marches and rallies observing May Day, the City of Los Angeles Department of Transportation has announced.

The department said streets in the downtown area will be closed beginning at approximately 9 a.m. to observe the day, also known as International Workers’ Day, which celebrates the social and economic achievements of the labour movement.

The following streets will be closed until 5 p.m., and in some cases until 8:30 p.m.:

•Broadway between 11th Street and Ord Street;

•Spring Street between 5th Street and Ord Street;

•Main Street between 6th Street and Ord Street;

Los Angeles Street between 6th Street and Alameda Street;

1st Street between Grand Avenue and Alameda Street;

Arcadia Street between Alameda Street and Broadway;

•Aliso Street between Alameda Street and Broadway;

Judge Jon Aiso Street between 1st Street and Temple Avenue;

5th Street between Central Avenue and Grand Avenue;

7th Street between Kohler Street and Alameda Street;

•Sunset Boulevard/Cesar Chavez Avenue between Alvarado Street and Alameda Street.
