By a MetNews Staff Writer

Los Angeles Superior Court Judge  John T. Doyle, 56, was charged with misdemeanor drunk driving following a “minor sideswipe” with another vehicle, a Los Angeles Police Department detective said yesterday.

Doyle was arrested about 11:15 p.m. Thursday after officers pulled him over in the 4500 block of Don Felipe Drive, the detective said. He was released on $30,000 bail.

A copy of the police report was not yet available, the detective told the MetNews. Phone calls to Doyle’s Compton courtroom and chambers were not returned.

Doyle hears criminal cases in Compton. A former deputy public defender, he was named a judge by then-Gov. Gray Davis in 2001, a year after he became a Superior Court commissioner.

Doyle was a Compton Municipal Court commissioner from 1995 until court unification in 2000. The Loyola Law School graduate was admitted to the State Bar in 1979.
