Paul B. Burns has joined DLA Piper’s Century City office as of counsel in the firm’s international tax practice.

Burns is admitted to practice in both California and New Jersey, and focuses his work on helping clients avoid or resolve transfer pricing disputes by way of traditional audit defense, representation before the Advance Pricing Agreement Program or representation before the US Competent Authority, the firm said.

A former senior litigator for the IRS, Burns received his law degree from USC and a master of laws in taxation from New York University,

Also joining the firm as principal economists are Ray Brown—who will join Burns in the Century City office—and Clarke Norton, who is joining the firm’s New York office.

DLA Piper boasts over 250 tax lawyers and economists in offices throughout Europe, Asia and the United States, as well as over 4,000 lawyers in more than 65 offices in Asia, Europe, the Middle East and the United States.

Aside from taxation, the firm’s practice areas include corporate and finance law, employment, regulatory and government affairs, litigation, intellectual property and real estate.
