By a MetNews Staff Writer

Law clerks of the late Senior Ninth U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals Judge Melvin T. Brunetti and the University of California Hastings College of the Law have established the “Judge Melvin Brunetti ‘64 Memorial Scholarship” honoring him, the Ninth Circuit said yesterday.

Brunetti died Oct. 30 at his home in Reno, Nev. He was 75.

The judge graduated from law school at UC Hastings in 1964 and continued to support the school through his career. After becoming a federal judge in 1985, he often selected UC Hastings graduates to serve as his law clerks.

The school said contributions to the new scholarship should be made by check payable to the “Judge Melvin Brunetti ‘64 Memorial Scholarship.” Checks may be mailed to Assistant Dean Jacqueline Ervin at Advancement & Communications, University of California Hastings College of the Law, 200 McAllister Street, San Francisco, 94102.

Additional information about the scholarship can be obtained by calling (415) 565-4832, the school said.
