By a MetNews Staff Writer

Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger yesterday announced the appointment of Los Angeles attorney Andrew S. Wong to the Dental Hygiene Committee of California.

This position does not require Senate confirmation and the compensation is $100 per diem.

A spokesperson from the governor’s office commented that Schwarzenegger selects “the best and most qualified individuals to serve Californians and he is confident in Mr. Wong’s abilities to perform the duties as required by this position.”

Wong, 35, is a litigation partner at Orrick, Herrington and Sutcliffe. Prior to joining the firm as an associate in 2004, he worked for three years as an associate litigator for Howrey LLP and for three years with O’Melveny and Meyers.

A Republican, Wong attended U.C. Berkley and Harvard Law School. He was admitted to the State Bar in 1998.
