Downtown Courts to Remain Open During Rally

By a MetNews Staff Writer

Courts downtown will remain open during Thursday’s march and rally in support of immigration and labor rights, officials said yesterday.

The Stanley Mosk Courthouse and Clara Shortridge Foltz Criminal Justice Center operated on normal schedules during last year’s May 1 activities and are slated to again this year.

Court officials suggested, however, that attorneys recognize the difficulties inherent in travel in the area during the march. They urged attorneys to consider filing documents today or tomorrow, or to do so early on Thursday or to wait until Friday if the filing would still be timely.

Superior Court officials said that attorneys with questions may contact Central Civil Senior Administrator Art Acevedo at 213-974-5201 or Central Criminal Senior Administrator Susan Cichy at 213-974-6151.
