Governor Names Judge in Butte County

Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger yesterday named Chico attorney Kristen A. Lucena to the Butte Superior Court.
Lucena, 38, has served as a partner in the law firm Leverenz, Ferris & Lucena, specializing in real estate law, since last year. She was a deputy district attorney in the county from 1994 to 2004, rising to supervising deputy.
She is a graduate of USC and the University of Santa Clara School of Law. She fills a vacancy created by the retirement of Judge William Patrick, whom she was elected in June to succeed.
The appointment allows her to take office immediately rather than wait until her elected term begins in January.
Lucena is a Democrat.
