Hearing Set for Sixth District Court of Appeal Nominee Duffy

The Commission on Judicial Appointments will meet in the Supreme Court’s San Francisco courtroom May 16 at 4 p.m. to consider the nomination of Monterey Superior Court Judge  Wendy Clark Duffy to the Sixth District Court of Appeal, the Administrative Office of the Courts said Friday.

Duffy was nominated by Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger Thursday to fill the vacancy created by the retirement of Justice William M. Wunderlich. When considering Sixth District nominations, the Commission on Judicial Appointments consists of Chief Justice Ronald M. George, Attorney General Bill Lockyer, and Presiding Justice Conrad L. Rushing.

Written comments and requests to speak at the hearing are due May 9, the AOC said, and must be addressed to Commission on Judicial Appointments  c/o Chief Justice of California, Supreme Court of California, 350 McAllister Street, San Francisco, California 94102, Attention: Ms. Gale Tunnell, Secretary to the Commission.

The commission requires that anyone wishing to testify include a summary of the facts on which any testimony or opinion will be based.
