LosAngeles Superior Court Announces Reductions in Night Court Sessions

--

Night court sessions have been cut in half at four locations, and will be similarly reduced at a fifth in July, the Los Angeles Superior Court announced on its Web site Friday.

A court spokesperson said the reductions were effective May 10 at courthouses in Compton, El Monte, Pomona and West Covina. Instead of four times per month, night court sessions are now being held only on the first and third Mondays of each month.

The sessions are for traffic matters.

Night court sessions at the Long Beach courthouse will also be cut from four to two per month beginning in July, the announcement said. Those sessions will take place on the first and third Tuesdays of each month.

A statewide court rule which became effective Jan. 1 requires trial courts to provide public notice within 15 days of any “significant permanent decrease in the number of hours that a court location is open during any day for either court sessions or filing of papers.”
