Attorney Richard Welch Named Chairman of Tourism Board

Los Angeles attorney Richard Welch has taken over as chairman of the board of LA INC., formerly the Los Angeles Convention and Visitors Bureau.

Welch is the managing partner for the local office of law firm Bingham McCutchen LLP.

His term began Tuesday and concludes June 30 of next year. Welch replaced attorney Alan I. Rothenberg, a retired senior partner of Latham & Watkins who chaired the board for the past two years.

Welch has been an active member of the LA INC. board since 1995, and served as chairman from 1998-1999.

Welch joined Bingham when the firm merged with Los Angeles-based Riordan & McKinzie, where Welch was chairman. LA INC. markets Los Angeles as a destination for meetings and conventions as well as a leisure travel destination.
