Manatt, Phelps & Phillips Names William Quicksilver to Management Post

Securities lawyer William T. Quicksilver has been appointed chief operating officer of Manatt, Phelps & Phillips, making him second in command on the Westside firm’s management team.

The post carries with it the title of deputy managing partner.

Managing partner Paul H. Irving said Quicksilver’s role in the firm’s management had become increasingly important.

“He has consistently exceeded expectations that I set for him beginning at the inception of our management relationship,” Irving said. “Bill’s appointment reflects the extraordinary contributions he makes daily to the financial and operational progress of our enterprise. He has truly become my partner in managing Manatt, and we compliment each other exceptionally well in our respective roles.”

Quicksilver chairs the firm’s Business and Transactions Unit and its. Finance and Risk Management Committee. His practice focuses on corporate, securities and banking matters including mergers and acquisitions, capital market activities, corporate governance, regulatory matters and strategic advisory services.

Quicksilver graduated from Princeton University in 1974 and earned his law degree in 1978 from the University of Chicago Law School.

He has been listed among the “Best Lawyers in America” since 1999.

Manatt has offices in Los Angeles, Orange County, Palo Alto, Sacramento, New York, Albany, Mexico City and Monterrey, Mexico.

The firm was founded by banking attorney Charles T. Manatt, who served as chairman of the Democratic National Committee and was the U.S. ambassador to the Dominican Republic from 1999-2001.
