Former Federal Prosecutor Among Five Named Partners at O’Melveny & Myers

In the first seven days of the new year, O’Melveny & Myers has elected 13 lawyers to partner, five in Los Angeles.
In the firm’s downtown office, Carolyn J. Kubota, who is with the firm’s white collar crime and regulatory defense section, has been elevated to partner. Kubota previously served as an assistant U.S. Attorney in the Los Angeles U.S. Attorney’s Office. Kubota earned both her undergraduate degree and her law degree from Cornell University.
New partner Thomas M. Riordan joined the firm in 1995 and practices in the litigation department. Riordan also works downtown. He is a graduate of the University of Iowa and of Loyola Law School.
Paul Salvaty, whose practice downtown is focused on complex commercial litigation and media law, has also become a partner. He earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Notre Dame and a law degree from Hastings College of the Law before joining O’Melveny in 1996.
In O’Melveny’s Century City office, two new partners have been elected. Carol A. Johnston, a trusts and estates attorney in the firm’s tax department, joined the firm in 1986. She earned a bachelor’s degree from Middlebury College and a law degree from the University of Chicago.
Robert C. Welsh, whose litigation practice centers around intellectual property disputes, entertainment litigation, and licensing disputes, will also move up to partnership. He joined O’Melveny last year after earning a law degree from UCLA and a B.A., M.A. and Ph.D from the University of California at Santa Barbara.
New lawyers have also been added to the firm’s New York, Washington, D.C., Hong Kong and Shanghai offices.
