Kathy Du Vernet, executive director of the Long Beach Bar Foundation, has been named to lead the Long Beach Bar Association as well.

The Bar Association announced this week that its Board of Governors voted to share an administrator with the Bar Foundation.  Du Vernet has been Bar Foundation executive director since November of 2001.

She succeeds Richard Feinberg, who resigned early this year, in the Bar Association post.

Du Vernet is a native of South Carolina who came to California in 1988.  She has a masters degree in counseling psychology from Cal State Fullerton.

Before joining the Bar Foundation she was associate director of programs for Parents Anonymous, Inc., which she described as the nation’s “oldest national child abuse prevention and advocacy” group.

In a statement released by the Bar Association, Du Vernet said she hoped the dual appointment would result in cost savings and enhance the effectiveness of both organizations.

“I am looking forward to continuing my work with the Foundation as we strive to help strengthen the youth of Long Beach through juvenile crime prevention and law-related education programs, and to working closely with the volunteers of both organizations as we create more opportunities for attorneys and others to assist and benefit the Long Beach community,” she declared.
