By MetNews Staff Writer

Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Floyd Baxter was injured in a car crash on his way to work at the Santa Clarita Court yesterday morning.

A court spokesman said that the judge’s injuries were not considered serious, but added that he remained hospitalized late yesterday afternoon and was awaiting x-rays results.

The Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department reported that the two-vehicle crash took place on San Fernando Road. Baxter was headed west when his car was struck by an eastbound vehicle, the Sheriff’s Department said.

Deputies reported that Baxter was transported to Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital.

Baxter, 66, is one of three judges at the Valencia courthouse, which also has two commissioners. He was appointed to the then-Newhall Municipal Court in 1985 by then-Gov. George Deukmejian and served several terms as the court’s presiding judge.
