Astoria Senior Living Center Dedicates Wing to Judge David Korman

By a MetNews Staff Writer

The Astoria Quality Senior Living center will dedicate a second-floor wing today in memory of the late Judge David Korman, who died nearly 10 years ago.

“Judge Korman was the kind of man who became involved because he was a humanitarian,” Astoria spokeswoman Linda Silver said of the jurist who worked the juvenile court bench. “He really cared for those who had dementia and were deemed to have been put out to pasture. He spent much time there caring for the elderly.”

The Fairfax District facility, which houses 19 seniors afflicted with dementia, is an “intimate, boutique-like” home, Silver said, that is nestled among rows of apartments at 8041 Blackburn, just blocks from the Beverly Center.

The owners of Astoria, Sophia Rickberg and Inna Levin, will have an open house today to honor the new wing.

For more information on the center, call (323) 658-7660.
