Services Set for David Haber, One Of Two Lawyers Who Died in Mexico Car Accident

Memorial services have been set for one of two lawyers who died in a car accident in Mexico on Nov. 9.

Services for David Haber, a senior partner at Glendale’s Knapp, Peterson & Clarke, will be held Nov. 30 at Holy Family Church in South Pasadena, according to Holy Family Parish administrator Karl Holtsnider. Holtsnider said the services were delayed so long because Haber has relatives overseas who need the time to travel.

Services for 62-year-old Jim Chisholm of Pasadena, tax counsel for Northern Trust Bank in downtown Los Angeles, have not yet been set, Holtsnider said. He said Chisholm’s family hasn’t made arrangements yet because Chisholm’s wife, Kathy, was seriously injured in the accident and remains hospitalized at Ameri-Med hospital in Mexico.

Judy McNiff of Pasadena also died in the crash.

Haber and his wife Margaret, Chisholm and his wife Kathy and McNiff and her husband Frank, along with another couple, Michael and Patricia Burns, were in Mexico celebrating Haber’s birthday at the Habers’ home in Puerto Vallarta earlier this month. They were driving on Mexico’s Interstate 200 when a tour bus driver tried to pass them and lost control of his vehicle, forcing them into oncoming traffic and causing another bus to flip over onto their SUV. Burns, a trial attorney for Hosp, Gilbert & Associates in Pasadena, is hospitalized in Arizona along with his wife. Both sustained serious internal injuries.
