A memorial services have been set for Robert G. Taylor, name partner of former Los Angeles firm Tuttle & Taylor, for 2 p.m. Thursday at the California Club in Los Angeles.

Taylor died Sept. 25 of cancer at Kindred Hospital in Los Angeles. He was 77.

A premier transaction lawyer, Taylor specialized in agricultural cooperative deals in California and around the country.

His client list included Sunkist Growers, Inc., an agricultural cooperative which markets California and Arizona citrus, Welch Foods of Concord, Mass., and Tri Valley Growers of San Francisco.

For years Taylor served as managing partner of Tuttle & Taylor, a leading Los Angeles firm founded in 1941 by Edward R. Tuttle.

The firm dissolved earlier this year, bending to the pressures of increased costs and an unfavorable economic forecast for smaller, unconsolidated firms.

Born in Sacramento in 1923, Taylor attended Wheaton College, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Harvard University and Stanford University, while in the U.S. Naval Reserve. graduating from Stanford in 1947. He earned his law degree from Stanford Law School two years later, achieving Order of the Coif.

After graduation, Taylor practiced for a short time at Crimmins, Kent, Draper & Bradley in San Francisco before joining Tuttle in 1951.

Taylor became a partner in 1953 and by 1954 the firm’s name had changed to include Taylor.

Taylor is survived by his wife, Margaret, and his daughter Debra A. Taylor, both of Los Angeles, and sisters, Harriet Tallmadge of Illinois and Ethel Carlson of Pennsylvania.

The family suggests donations be made either to the American Cancer Society or to charities that help families of victims of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.

The California Club is located at 538 S. Flower Street, Los Angeles.
