Gonzalez, Whitchurch Join Davis Wright Tremaine in Los Angeles

Associates Emilio Gonzalez and Gialisa Whitchurch have joined the Los Angeles office of Davis Wright Tremaine.

Whitchurch, formerly an associate with Latham & Watkins, focuses her practice on media, information, and communication technologies, but also has experience in labor and employment law, intellectual property and general litigation.

Whitchurch is currently working on several First Amendment issues dealing with  requests for information made under the Freedom of Information Act.

She earned her undergraduate degree magna cum laude from Santa Clara University and her law degree from Duke University School of Law. At Duke, Whitchurch was a member of the International Development Clinic, staff editor of the Duke Journal of Gender Law and Policy, and an advocate of children for a local judge.

Whitchurch is admitted to practice before the California Supreme Court and in the Northern, Central and Southern U.S. District Courts in California.

Gonzalez, formerly of Fenwick & West, will focus his practice on employment law, including discrimination issues, trade secret misappropriation and breach of fiduciary issues.

A practiced litigator in both federal and state courts, Gonzalez has experience with intellectual property litigation involving the digital distribution of music and other copyright issues.

He has also served as a staff attorney for Safeco Insurance Companies of America and as instructor at his alma mater, University of California, Hastings, College of Law.

Gonzalez received his undergraduate degree from Columbia University and his law degree from University of California, Hastings, College of Law, where he was a member and associate editor of the Hastings International and Comparative Law Review.
