Public Memorial Slated in San Francisco for Stanley Mosk

A public memorial for California Supreme Court Justice Stanley Mosk will be held next Thursday in San Francisco, the Administrative Office of the Courts said Tuesday.
The gathering, open to all members of the public, is being organized by his court staff in honor of the state’s longest-serving justice, the AOC said in a release. It will be held from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Herbst Theater, 401 Van Ness Avenue at McAllister Street, San Francisco.
Mosk died June 19 at the age of 88 after serving 37 years on the state’s highest court. He had previously served as California attorney general, as a Los Angeles Superior Court judge, and as a top aide to Culbert Olsen, who was governor from 1939 to 1943.
Mosk’s family held a memorial service on June 26 at the Wilshire Boulevard Temple in Los Angeles. The Supreme Court also plans to hold an official memorial session as part of its oral argument calendar in San Francisco in September.
